Akuntieurs are devil-like creatures that usually live in the dark by themselves.

Morphology

Basic traits include ears, horns, wings, tail and huge paws. These can vary in size and shape, some being rarer than others.
Their audition is really sharp, which compensates for their lack of vision. The strength on their hands is enormous due to its size. Both hands and feet have paw pads and claws.
The tail, feet and hands are usually longer/bigger on newborns and mutations include multiple or split ended tails.
Horns are always present and akuntieurs may have up to 3 pairs, which is rarer. This feature can also end up with split ends, which does not occur that often.
Females are usually smaller and curvier than males.
Smaller wings are merely decorative, since they do not support an akuntieur's weight, while big ones can be used for flying, though they usually move by turning into liquid shadows. This ability is useful for preying, hiding and slipping through cracks. A somewhat rare mutation includes the presence of bioluminescence and poison in the shadow and blood. Besides luring preys more easily, it can be lethal if the liquid is able to penetrate in a wound or a cut. These akuntieurs also have a thin sting at the tip of their tails which regenerates every time they use it.
The bioluminescence can also be seen as a communication method (not that efficient, since their vision isn't great), either between the alpha male and the rest of his group or between two lonely akuntieurs.

Reproduction

Reproduction occurs normally, with internal fertilization and gestation, which lasts around 1 year. Females are fertile only once in their lifetime.
Akuntieurs do display parental care; in this case, usually maternal. After breeding, the male simply leaves the female to take care of the progeny. They have a maximum of 2 offsprings. There are rare times when both parents actually take care of the progeny together, parting only after the child is able to take care of itself.

Feeding Habits

Akuntieurs are essentially carnivores. They will feed on any living being once every 3 days.

Personality and Society

These creatures are unsociable and prefer living alone in dark places. However some will walk in groups of 3-5. This usually happens after reproduction, when it is common for akuntieurs to either live by themselves or search for a group/same sex partner.
The alpha male usually displays bioluminescence/poison in his shadow/blood.
Despite most of them acting instinctively, there are some akuntieurs that were able to create a whole society and live similarly to human beings by dressing up, building homes and stocking food, as well as improving their communication method and language.
